The opening of Rotary Park, Warragul

Since the establishment of the Rotary Club of Warragul in Warragul in 1938 the club has raised substantial funds and contributed many hours of work to undertaken projects to support the Warragul community. Through the broader Rotary organization the club has also made significant contributions to projects in Australia and around the world.

Our club, together with our District Rotary organization, has this past 12 months given to Australians that have been effected by Flood, Fire, and Drought. We do this by clubs contributing funds to the Rotary District 9820 disaster fund, in that way our district can respond quickly to assist the Australian that have been struck by natures elements and other devastating circumstances.

Our Warragul club has with the generous help of the local communities and Warragul businesses, have worked to raise funds by running our Rotary Art Show (now in its 47th year), and the growing of Christmas Trees that we sell both locally and to the metropolitan Melbourne area.

Some of the Warragul groups that we have partnered with on our projects include the Warragul Ventures group, the Warragul Regional College students. This has been most rewarding to all concerned, we hope to continue these partnerships.

The benefit of Rotary goes even further in that we provide lasting facilities for the community and visitors to our area by the community work we do. Some of the past projects are the Rotary clock (constructed in 1955) which later underwent some modifications on the Queen Street Old Princes Highway intersection), the memorial gates at the Show Grounds in Memory of King George V1. More recently the club established Rotary Park, installed a Defibrillator unit in our main street, built the Rotunda at Civic Park, and established the extensive playground and BBQ area at Latrobe street park area.

Our Warragul club usually meets at the Warragul Country Club on a Tuesday at 6 for 6-30 pm;
Any person wishing to attend a Rotary meeting should contact me to make appropriate arrangements.
